Held third session of the Council for Coordination and Monitoring of the 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership Process

The third session of the Council for Coordination and Monitoring of the 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership process was held on October 7th 2022. The implementation of the National Action Plan for 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership and the current activities under the project “Support to the implementation and monitoring process of the National Action Plan for 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership” were reviewed and discussed at the session therein.

11 members and 6 deputy members of the Council, representatives of state government bodies and civil society organizations actively participated in the session. Ivona Stalevska from the Open Society Foundation – Macedonia, co-chairman of the OGP Council, chaired this session.

 

After the adoption of the proposed agenda and the adoption of the minutes of the second session of the Council held on March 29th 2022, the Council members were informed in detail in view of the activities and challenges during the implementation of the National Action Plan for 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership with an individual overview of Open Government, Open Parliament and Open Judiciary and the current activities of the project “Support to the implementation and monitoring process of the National Action Plan for 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership ” and the preparation process of the Self-Assessment Report with the status of the implementation of the National Action Plan for 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership for the period October 2021 – October 2022. Regarding the activities of the project “Support to the implementation and monitoring process of the National Action Plan for 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership “, the members of the Council were informed that a series of activities related to capacity building of the Network members of civil society organizations that work on the OGP, inclusion of CSOs in the process of monitoring the implementation and evaluation of the achievements regarding the AP’s implementation, as well as building a system that will provide MISA and the Council with information concerning the level of implementation of the plan and the key challenges, were carried out through the project thereof.

After the end of the working part of the third session of the Council for coordination and monitoring of the 2021-2023 Open Government Partnership process, a Capacity Building Workshop was held for the new members and deputy members of the Council for Coordination and Monitoring of the Open Government Partnership Process 2021-2023 thereto.

The Council for coordination and monitoring of the  2021-2023 Open Government Partnership process is an advisory body for Open Government Partnership of the Republic of North Macedonia, for coordination and monitoring of the development and implementation of Action plans, with a key advisory and decision-making role in all phases of the Open Government Partnership process, through the planning cycle, in the development of action plans and in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of action plans.

The Open Government Partnership Council is composed of 16 members with an equal number of members from state government institutions and civil society.

The Council for Coordination and Monitoring of the Open Government Partnership Process and the Working Group for Implementation of the National Action Plan for Open Government Partnership, established by decision of the Minister of Information Society and Administration, represent the structure for coordination, monitoring and implementation of the Open Government Partnership process in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The Open Government Partnership is a voluntary international initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments by governments to their citizens to promote transparency, encourage citizen participation, fight corruption and harness new technologies in order to strengthen good governance.

Our country has been a member of the initiative since 2011 and has adopted four National Action Plans (in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018). The coordinator of government activities for the Open Government Partnership is the Ministry of Information Society and Administration.
